What Actually Works — and Why Having a Coach Makes the Difference

There is so much noise out there. New supplements, new diets, new workouts — all promising to be the thing that finally works. So when women ask me what actually works, my honest answer is this: the basics, done consistently, by someone who understands what you're going through.

I know what you're going through

I'm in my 50s, and I've been through most seasons of life. I've built businesses, raised a family and managed a home and everything that goes with it. I've supported ageing parents. I've been tested by grief and by divorce.

My body has had its challenges too. I've been through a hysterectomy and menopause, and I've had a hip replacement diagnosis. So when you tell me you're exhausted, stretched thin, or that your body doesn't feel like your own any more — I'm not guessing. I've been there.

    What has kept me strong

Through all of it, what has helped me stay strong, healthy and resilient isn't a secret product or a quick fix. It's my attitude towards my health, and four simple things I do consistently:

    • I take care of my nutrition, consistently. Not perfectly — consistently. Protein and fibre at every meal, and an understanding of what fuels my body and my training.
    • I strength train three times a week. It's the single biggest thing I do to protect my muscle, my bones and my confidence as I age.
    • I walk every day.Daily movement keeps me feeling good, clears my head and adds up far more than people realise.
    • I protect my sleep.Sleep is where recovery happens. When life gets busy, it's the first thing I guard, not the first thing I sacrifice.

Nothing glamorous. But it works — and it's exactly what I build into my coaching. Everything I ask my clients to do, I have tried and tested myself.

Why a coach makes the difference

Most women already know they "should" be eating better, lifting weights and sleeping more. Knowing isn't the problem. Doing it consistently, while life keeps throwing things at you, is. That's where a coach comes in.

    • It lightens the mental load. You're already holding so much. A coach takes the planning, the thinking and the second-guessing off your plate, so all you have to do is show up.
    • It takes away the guesswork. No more piecing together conflicting advice from social media. You get a clear plan, built around your body, your life and your goals — and you know why you're doing it.
    • It gives you someone to be accountable to.Motivation comes and goes. Having someone in your corner who checks in, notices when things slip and helps you get back on track is often what turns good intentions into results.
